→ Free electricity - When the solar power system generates electricity from the sun you don’t have to source power from the electricity grid, meaning you save on your energy bill.
→ Increase the value of your home - With electricity prices set to rise dramatically over the next few years, the system will provide a valuable shield that will add to the value of your property and lock in the price of electricity at the same time.
→ Government incentives - Your solar power system comes with a point of sale discount provided by the Australian Government, allowing you to take advantage of generous rebates.
→ 25 year performance warranty - Manufactured to the highest international performance and reliability standards, your solar power system is backed by a 25 year performance warranty.
→ Reduce your carbon footprint - Using solar power reduces our reliance on harmful fossil fuels and helps make the world cleaner for future generations. Contribute to the fight against climate change and consider your options for solar today.
Why choose solar panels for your home?
A solar power system provides free electricity, enhanced property value, reduced greenhouse gas emissions, and generous government incentives.
Is a warranty provided?
Yes. The solar panels come with a 25 year performance warranty. Inverters come with 5 to 10 year product warranties. Energy Aware also provides workmanship warranties for all work completed on your property.
Will a special meter need to be installed?
Yes. Electricity distributors, who are responsible for managing the electricity grid, require special digital meters to be installed. We will liaise with your distributor to ensure the appropriate meter is connected.
Is any maintenance required?
Once installed, the solar power system is maintenance free. We do recommend periodically cleaning the panels to ensure they are performing well and checking the cables every couple of years.
What happens in a blackout?
For safety reasons, the system will automatically shut down if the normal supply of electricity is interrupted.
How effective is the system in winter?
The solar power system relies on sunlight and ultra violet rays, not heat. While there may be less hours of sunlight in winter, the actual conversion of power is unaffected by the change in season.
Is the system resistant to harsh weather?
Yes. Solar panels and inverters are designed to withstand exposure to the elements including rain, hail, and strong winds.
Will my home insurance cover my system?
In most cases, the system will be covered by your home and contents insurance policy. You should however contact your insurer to confirm the replacement value in your policy is sufficient to cover your solar power system.
How does it work?
The system converts sunlight into electricity suitable for use in your property during the day. Your property is still connected to the electricity grid, supplying you with power when there is no sunlight.
What are the components of a solar power system?
A standard solar power system is made up of three main components: solar panels, an inverter, and the mounting system used to secure the panels to the roof. The system is connected to the electricity grid which supplies your home with power when there is no sunlight.
Do I get paid for excess electricity that I produce?
Yes. It is compulsory for your electricity retailer to purchase the excess electricity produced by your solar power system. This is called a "feed-in tariff" and it turns your solar power system into an income generating asset. Ask us for details of the feed-in tariff available for your property.
How much will I save?
The financial benefit provided by solar power will depend on the size of the system. The larger the system, the larger the financial benefit. Ask us for information on the savings generated by different sized systems.
How much roof space is required?
Using advanced satellite technology, we will inspect your property to determine the exact amount of roof space available and what size system you can accommodate.
Who installs the system?
Energy Aware installs the solar power system using our registered and licensed electricians, all of whom are accredited with the Clean Energy Council.
What are STC credits?
When you install a solar power system, you help to reduce carbon emissions. In exchange, the Australian government grants carbon offset credits known as Small-Scale Technology Certificates or 'STCs'. One STC equals 1 MWh (megawatt-hour) of deemed electricity generation from a renewable source. These STCs are more commonly referred to as the government rebate.
